Streszczenie: |
The objective of this work was to test the hypothesis that the use of mobile device applications contributes to the gain and retention of knowledge. Methodology: Students of the 7th and 8th level of the Dentistry course at the University of Passo Fundo were randomly divided into two groups (A - control; B - study) after approval of the work by the Research Ethics Committee UPF under number 4.472.377 . The groups received a questionnaire with 20 questions, 10 of which were technical multiple-choice questions about third molar surgery and 10 affirmative/negative questions following the Likert pattern, and group B previously received a link to download a free and original application about surgery third molar as study reinforcement. The results were analyzed using the chi-square test and the mean and comparison of data obtained from groups A and B of both classes. Results: the average result referring to technical issues showed a 26.8% increase in the final average compared to the groups for the 7th level and 25.8% increase for the 8th level. The chi-square test showed significance and the neutral responses about the application presented a value of p<0001, showing that the students who had access to the application were able to position themselves better regarding the agreement or disagreement of the questions compared to the group A that remained neutral. Conclusion: the tested hypothesis is valid, and the use of the application had a positive impact on the results of academics who had access to it as a means of studying on their mobile device. |
