Sumari: | It is known that not always the TTL suggested in DNS responses is respected by the recursive servers, causing a number of unnecessary requests to the authoritative servers. In this work, 24 hours of real DNS traffic was used to study the behavior of recursive servers before the root-servers. The analysis was focused on some specific domains and resource records, and results show that most of the recursives disregard the TTL suggested by the root-servers. As a consequence, the number of requests to the root-servers is much higher than theoretically expected. It was observed that 70% of requests are made by only ten companies, generating more than 900 requests per second. |
