The present work addresses the process of cutting flat plates; it studies and proposes a projectalternative for a CNC band saw with the ability to cut straight and curve wood and woodproducts, polymers, and acrylic. The objective of the study is get the preliminary project of aband saw with automatic systems for control and drive. For the development, the Pahl and Beitz authors' design methodology was used, which is composed of four phases. Organized in design specification, conceptual design, preliminary design and detailed design, the work presents a software-driven machine, made of steering wheels, saw blade, shafts, torsion system, and turntable; yet suggests programming examples for sawing boards. As a result, the concept of a machine for cutting plates was obtained, matching the concepts of the fourth industrial revolution and the so-called Industry 4.0, which is basically comprised of: scanning, system integration and use of information in real time. In the CNC band saw, there is a possibility for data entry on material, tool and process, which occur through the management software screens; and the mathematical modeling allows a self-diagnosis of the equipment during operation. |
