Busca igualmente discutir a importância da educação do olhar para o ajuizamento de gosto na obra de design, evidenciando o papel deste olhar na construção da identidade do sujeito a partir dos conceitos de autonomia e reconhecimento. A pesquisa explicita e põe em evidência o valor plástico do design que transcende o seu caráter de utensílio articulando-se com o artístico e mostra que é possível ajuizar o objeto utilitário como belo e, assim, afirmar o design como modalidade de arte, assim como a arquitetura, ou seja, passível de ajuizamento de gosto. Nos estudos de caso, buscou-se entrelaçar artesanato e design sob uma perspectiva artística, numa proposta que amplia os limites de compreensão do escopo de atuação e de significação do design nessas duas direções, das artes e do artesanato, com o olhar sempre voltado para os processos educativos, na sua perspectiva transformadora. Aquela que engendra a construção da cidadania A discussão essencial gira em torno das questões: por que é importante educar para a arte na formação em design, quais são os meios de se fazer isto, e para que serve educar-se para a arte? O alcance maior da pesquisa será o de subsidiar uma resposta prática objetiva a esta questão, para a proposição de estratégias pedagógicas que possam contribuir para o despertar do interesse pela arte e para a educação do gosto na escola de design. _______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis thesis has the didactic purpose of putting up the value of aesthetics in design. It seeks also to discuss the importance of educating the eye for the judgment of taste in design works, demonstrating the role of this perception in the building of an identity of the subject, based on the concepts of autonomy and recognition. The research explains and demonstrates the plastic value of design, which transcends the utilitarian character of utensils, articulating with its artistic dimension, and showing that it is possible to value a utilitarian object as beautiful and to reaffirm design as a mode of art, like in architecture, that is, liable to taste judgment. The case studies try to interlace artisanship and design, from an artistic perspective. They propose an amplification of the comprehension limits of the objectives and signification of design in both dimensions – art and artisanship, always looking at the educational processes, in their transformative perspective, for the construction of citizenship. The essential argument considers the following questions: why is it important to provide artistic education in design, which are the means to do this and what´s the use of educating for art?
