This paper aims to analyze the Orquestra de Violeiros do Estado de Goiás, a music group, formed in the 80’s in Goiania – GO, and has been developing a great job through the whole state since then. the first objective was to exam the identity and stylistic aspects which makes part of the orchestra and the importance of its existence to the local community. Aiming at understanding the meaning of the actions developed and the social representations established by the subjects in the involvement with this musical formation, the procedures performed were a bibliographical survey, consultations with the group's documentary collections, rehearsal and presentation observations - recorded in field diaries -, questionnaire application and interviews with the members and recipients of this cultural phenomenon. Thus, we collected specific data about the whole work, the history and the social context in which the music group is inserted, as well as explore the idiomatic elements which pertains to their artistic and cultural performances. The research methodology was formed from a qualitative approach, which is based in part on bibliographical sources of sociological and cultural studies, consequently, it brings data about the production field of the Orquestra de Violeiros do Estado de Goiás, and it calls attention to what and who it serves.The results demonstrated its significant meaning towards the historical and cultural patrimony quality of Goiás society, since the actions were likely promoted the execution and maintenance of the traditions and values linked to the memory of Música Caipira and Música Sertaneja, both intensively cultivated in this social environment. |
