סיכום: | This thesis is the result of an ethnographic study carried out in Mérida, the capital of the Mexican state Yucatán, between January 2018 and March 2019. Based on interviews about life stories, analysis of maps and images, I deal with some transformation processes in the urban space, as they are experienced by the mayan population living in the city. Based on the landscape category, taken as a record of everyday practices of living, working and moving on in the city, I think about the production of urban borders and the way they relate to the issue of ethnicity. For this, I analyze the way in which these practical activities relate to cultural meanings constructed throughout Mérida's history. In other words, I try to understand how social practices and cultural meanings participate in the production of lived and experienced urban environment, with its borders, conflicts, forms of racism and segregation. |

Basado en la categoría paisaje, tomada como un registro de las prácticas cotidianas de vivir, trabajar y moverse en la ciudad, pienso en la producción de las fronteras urbanas y la forma en que ellas se relacionan con el tema de la etnicidad. Para esto, analizo la manera en que estas actividades prácticas se relacionan con los significados culturales construidos a lo largo de la historia de Mérida. En otras palabras, trato de entender cómo las prácticas sociales y los significados culturales participan en la producción del ambiente urbano vivido y experimentado, con sus fronteras, conflictos, formas de racismo y segregación.Esta tese é fruto de uma etnografia realizada em Mérida, capital do estado mexicano de Yucatán, entre janeiro de 2018 e março de 2019. A partir de entrevistas sobre histórias de vida, análise de mapas e de imagens, trato sobre alguns processos de transformação no espaço urbano, tal como foram experienciados pelas populações mayas residentes na cidade. Com base na categoria paisagem, tomada como um registro de práticas cotidianas de morar, trabalhar e mover-se na cidade, penso a produção das fronteiras urbanas e a forma como elas se relacionam com a questão da etnicidade. Para isso, analiso a maneira como essas atividades práticas se relacionam a significados culturais construídos ao longo da história de Mérida.
