Zusammenfassung: | Based on questionings about the occurrence of syncretism as a social phenomenon, especially in Irmandade da Luz, this study aimed to describe and analyze some of the many discursive practices of this group, paying special attention to the processes of production, distribution and consumption of texts. Briefly, Irmandade da Luz is a religious order whose doctrinaire constitution has its origin in five great religious institutions: Catholicism, Espiritismo, Umbanda, Santo Daime and the ideas of Ramatís. Irmandade da Luz presents itself as a ‘spiritual hospital’, where people can find treatment and possibly the cure after undergoing several procedures such as ‘desobsessão’, ‘spiritual surgery’, ‘chromotherapy’ etc. We chose to understand the aspects that constitute Irmandade da Luz in three different moments: firstly, we went over the most important works concerning syncretism as a religious phenomenon; secondly, we described all the discursive practices of this group; finally, we selected some of these practices and we analyzed them according to the Discourse Analyses theory presented by Norman Fairclough and also the work of Michel Foucault and Mikhail Bakhtin. |
