Yhteenveto: | In this study, two social research approaches are presented: Action Research and Participatory Research. Participatory Research has evolved methodologically and includes participant and ethnographic observation, adapting to technological changes through netnography in order to understand cultural and communicational phenomena in cyberspace. Action Research has also improved over time by eliminating dogmas, seeking to qualify the researcher’s insertion in social interventions aimed at solving collective problems, and encompassing broad interaction between researchers and participants. In this context, the present text addresses the ontological and epistemological aspects of Participatory Research and Action Research. Before addressing these concepts, it is essential to understand the different research paradigms that guide them. These beliefs and assumptions form a paradigm that should guide the choice of the research method to be used. In other words, the paradigm will determine the overall research strategy and define the data collection and data analysis techniques that the researcher will employ. Furthermore, with regard to Action Research, the involvement of the researcher in the context and activities under study is emphasized, allowing participants to contribute to the research for the benefit of their own group. The insertion of the investigator in the natural environment where the phenomenon under study occurs is, in turn, fundamental for Participatory Research, although there are different modalities of this approach. In short, both approaches share the idea that research should be oriented toward social transformation, seeking to generate concrete changes in social reality based on the reflections generated by the data collected in the research. That is, the main objective is the practical application of knowledge for the benefit of society, going beyond academic output. |

That is, the main objective is the practical application of knowledge for the benefit of society, going beyond academic output.Nesta pesquisa, são apresentadas duas abordagens de pesquisa social: a Pesquisa-Ação e a Pesquisa Participante. A Pesquisa Participante tem evoluído metodologicamente e inclui a observação participante e etnográfica, adaptando-se às mudanças tecnológicas através da netnografia para compreender fenômenos culturais e comunicacionais no ciberespaço. A Pesquisa-Ação também se aprimora no tempo ao eliminar dogmas, buscando a qualificação da inserção do pesquisador em intervenções sociais, orientadas para a resolução de problemas coletivos, contemplando ampla interação entre pesquisadores e participantes. Nesse contexto, o presente texto aborda os aspectos ontológicos e epistemológicos da pesquisa participante e da pesquisa-ação. Antes de abordar esses conceitos, é fundamental entender os diferentes paradigmas de pesquisa que os orientam. Essas crenças e pressupostos formam um paradigma que deve orientar a escolha do método de pesquisa a ser utilizado. Em outras palavras, o paradigma determinará a estratégia geral da pesquisa e definirá as técnicas de coleta e análise de dados que o pesquisador utilizará. Ademais, no tocante à Pesquisa-Ação, é acrescentado o envolvimento do pesquisador no contexto e nas atividades estudadas, permitindo que os participantes contribuam com a pesquisa para benefício de seu próprio grupo. Já a inserção do investigador no ambiente natural onde ocorre o fenômeno a ser estudado é fundamental para a Pesquisa Participante, embora existam diferentes modalidades dessa abordagem. Em suma, ambas as abordagens têm em comum a ideia de que a pesquisa deve estar voltada para a transformação social, buscando gerar mudanças concretas na realidade social, a partir das reflexões geradas pelos dados coletados na pesquisa.
