Achoimre: | The watershed of the Rio Doce-BHRD is located in the eastern portion of the State of Rio Grande do Norte. Is a geographical unit that comes over time, showing a disorderly occupation process, in its most varied forms. The diversity of existing environmental systems make it an area potentially vulnerable to negative environmental impacts. In this context, this thesis aimed to identify and map the spatial and geo-environmental characteristics and natural and environmental vulnerabilities of the watershed of the Rio Doce-RN, with operational and methodological support the Geotechnologies software free. As a result, proposed a new delimitation of the BHRD, in which there was an increase of 2.29% of the total area, your official passing of 387.8 km ² to 396.7 km ². Geoenvironmental characterization showed that the basin has suffered human actions which are changing the local landscape, turning areas that previously considered "preserved" in the area especially close to large urban centres and in the Guajirú basin. One of the most impressive activities include seasonal farming, responsible for removal of natural vegetation, including riparian forests, to the cultivation of monocultures, such as sugarcane; greenery, cultivated in the major and minor rivers bed Guajirú and Mudo and production in areas of rural settlements, the source of the Guajirú; growing perennial, with coconut, banana and cashew as the main cultures, observed in riverbeds, with emphasis on areas where the river has perennial characteristics, i.e. near the lagoon of Extremoz; urban sprawl toward the Mudo River, near the urban area of Ceará-Mirim, on the shores of the Lake to the mouth and Extremoz River Guajirú, with reference to the villages and districts like Serrinha, Massaranduba and urban areas of Extremoz and Natal; and the mining activity, in areas where outcrop geological formation Dona Inês. The result of these activities in the basin was reflected in natural and environmental vulnerabilities mappings. In the natural vulnerability of average degree reached level 4 vulnerability, classified as Medium stable/Vulnerable, equivalent to 2.1, with strong tendencies to become Moderately Vulnerable. This is the pressure in the urban areas located further east of the basin, which presents a most recent geology, with a geomorphology, soils and vegetation changed by human action, but minimized by more regular rainfall distribution. To environmental vulnerability, the results showed that the basin presents a 2-level average, 2.4-valued, considered the degree of vulnerability as a Moderately Vulnerable area. In this case, the influence of human actions in the Middle made these values reach 2.7 in urban areas, decreasing towards the West portion of the basin. It is concluded that the current stage of use and occupation of the basin. Therefore, the search for proposals that aim to minimize the negative impacts generated by the exploitation of natural resources existing there, with reference to the results obtained in this thesis, as well as other published in the scientific community, will make it possible to achieve social and environmental sustainability of the basin, keeping the balance morphogenesis/pedogenesis, as shown in the analysis of natural and environmental vulnerability. |

É uma unidade geográfica que vem, ao longo do tempo, apresentando um processo de ocupação desordenada, em suas mais variadas formas. As diversidades de sistemas ambientais existentes fazem dela uma área potencialmente vulnerável a impactos ambientais negativos. Nesse contexto, a presente tese teve como objetivo identificar e mapear as características territoriais e geoambientais e as vulnerabilidades natural e ambiental da Bacia Hidrográfica do Rio Doce – RN, tendo como suporte operacional e metodológico as Geotecnologias de softwares livres. Como resultado, propôs-se uma nova delimitação da BHRD, na qual houve um acréscimo de 2,29% da sua área total oficial, passando de 387,8 km² para 396,7 km². A caracterização geoambiental mostrou que a bacia vem sofrendo ações antrópicas que estão alterando a paisagem local, transformando áreas que, anteriormente, consideradas “preservadas” em áreas impactadas, principalmente próximo aos grandes centros urbanos e na nascente do rio Guajirú. Dentre as atividades mais impactantes, destacam-se o cultivo sazonal, responsável pela retirada da vegetação natural, inclusive matas ciliares, para o cultivo de monoculturas, como a cana de açúcar; as hortaliças, cultivadas no leito maior e menor dos rios Guajiru e Mudo e a produção em áreas de assentamentos rurais, na nascente do rio Guajiru; o cultivo perene, tendo o coco, a banana e o caju como as principais culturas, observado nos leitos dos rios, com ênfase nas áreas onde o rio possui características perene, ou seja, próximo a Lagoa de Extremoz; a expansão urbana em direção ao Rio Mudo, nas proximidades da área urbana de Ceará – Mirim, às margens da Lagoa de Extremoz até a desembocadura e no Rio Guajirú, tendo como referência os povoados e distritos como Serrinha, Massaranduba e as zonas urbanas de Extremoz e Natal.; e a atividade mineradora, nas áreas onde afloram a formação geológica Dona Inês. O resultado dessas atividades na bacia se refletiu nos mapeamentos das vulnerabilidades natural e ambiental. Na vulnerabilidade natural, a média do grau vulnerabilidade chegou ao nível 4, classificado como Medianamente Estável/Vulnerável, equivalente ao valor 2,1, com fortes tendências a se tornar Moderadamente Vulnerável. Isso se dá pela pressão exercida nas áreas urbanas localizadas mais a leste da bacia, onde apresenta uma geologia mais recente, com uma geomorfologia, solos e vegetação alterados pela ação antrópica, mas minimizado pela distribuição mais regular das chuvas. Já para a vulnerabilidade ambiental, os resultados mostraram que a bacia apresenta uma média de nível 2, com valor 2,4, considerado no grau de vulnerabilidade como uma área Moderadamente Vulnerável. Nesse caso, a influência das ações antrópicas no meio fez com que esses valores chegassem a 2,7 em áreas urbanas, diminuindo em direção a porção oeste da bacia. Conclui-se que o atual estágio de uso e ocupação da bacia está chegando ao limite da sustentabilidade. Portanto, a busca de propostas que visem minimizar os impactos negativos gerados pela exploração dos recursos naturais ali existentes, tendo como referência os resultados obtidos na presente tese, assim como outros divulgados na comunidade cientifica, permitirão alcançar a sustentabilidade socioambiental da bacia, mantendo o equilibro morfogênese/pedogênese, como se mostra na análise das vulnerabilidades natural e ambiental.Fundação da Universidade do Estado do Rio Grande do NorteNordeste-1application/pdfapplication/pdfporUniversidade do Estado do Rio Grande do NorteDesenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente - PRODEMABrasilUniversidade Federal do Rio Grande do NorteMeio AmbienteSIGDiagnóstico AmbientalVulnerabilidade Ambiental.Environment;
