Резюме: | The series On the trails of the hinterland reaches its fifth volume, incorporating research and historiographic analyzes developed by professionals linked to post-graduate courses - of Ceará universities and other equally prestigious institutions. The present issue brings articles derived from research developed at the University Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Federal University of Ceará (UFC), Uni- Federal Fluminense University (UFF), State University of Ceará (UECE), University State University Vale do Acaraú (UVA) and Universidade Regional do Cariri (URCA). In the five years of existence of this series, the professionals associated with it seek presented to the reading public a different sertão from the stereotyped one, present in the narratives of fiction literature and television media. It is a break and emancipation. A break because the series On the trails of the hinterland always seeks break with the history-memory and “fawning” that is produced by the intellectuals local farmers, whose production has the clear objective of building a praiseworthy memory history and self-praise for backcountry elites and their ancestors. In this respect, the series nas trails do sertão is also an emancipation because marks the overwhelming moment in which several history professionals, residing in the interiors of Ceará, decide to “join hands” to make the dissemination of your searches. They are professional historians from the sertão (yes, they exist!) from the sertão, to the sertão, because we no longer need (and do not accept more) than our reality is presented to us “from the outside”, in the form of a soap opera (like the soap opera Cordel Encantado, from Rede Globo), or from a “late regionalist novel” (as so many that even nowadays insist on rehashing the formula of fiction literature beginning of the 20th century) that, as Durval Muniz de Albuquerque Junior warns us, insists on presenting the country with a sertão that is the “eternal land of droughts”, locality stuck in a “pre-civilized” and eternal past, where time does not flow; dominated land colonels, cangaceiros and fanatical prophets, traveled by penitents, withdrawn and flagellated in a timeless manner. This hinterland no longer exists. And you, reader, you will not find it here. The sertão presented in our series is the real sertão, made up of men and women from flesh and blood, people who, for better or worse, are inserted in 21st century Brazil. |

O número presente traz artigos derivados de pesquisas desenvolvidas na Univer- sidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC), Uni- versidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), Universidade Estadual do Ceará (UECE), Uni- versidade Estadual Vale do Acaraú (UVA) e Universidade Regional do Cariri (URCA). Em cinco anos de existência desta série, os profissionais a ela congregados procu - raram apresentar ao público leitor um sertão diferente daquele estereotipado, presente nas narrativas da literatura de ficção e da mídia televisiva. Trata-se de uma ruptura e uma emancipação. Uma ruptura porque a série Nas trilhas do sertão procura sempre romper com a história-memória e “bajulatória” que é produzida pelos intelectuais or- gânicos locais , cuja produção tem o objetivo claro de construir uma memória louva- tória e autoelogiosa para as elites sertanejas e seus antepassados. Neste aspecto, a série Nas trilhas do sertão é também uma emancipação porque marca o momento contundente em que diversos profissionais da História, residen - tes nos interiores do Ceará, decidem “se dar as mãos” para viabilizar a divulgação de suas pesquisas. São historiadores profissionais do sertão (sim, eles existem!) falando do sertão, para o sertão, pois já não precisamos (e nem aceitamos mais) que a nossa realidade nos venha apresentada “de fora”, na forma de uma novela (como a novela Cordel Encantado, da Rede Globo) , ou de um “romance regionalista tardio” (como tantos que mesmo hoje em dia insistem em requentar a fórmula da literatura de ficção do início do século XX) que, como nos alerta Durval Muniz de Albuquerque Junior, insiste em apresentar ao país um sertão que é a “eterna terra das secas”, localidade presa a um passado “pré-civilizado” e eterno, onde o tempo não flui; terra dominada pelos coronéis, pelos cangaceiros e pelos profetas fanáticos, percorrida por penitentes, retirantes e flagelados de modo atemporal.
