সংক্ষিপ্ত: This study aims to analyze the historical construction of the Armorial Movement in Pernambuco, through its main founder and organizer, Ariano Suassuna, between 1950 and 1970. Launched on October 18, 1970, in Recife, the Movement, with expressions in art, literature, poetry and music, tried to create an erudite Brazilian art based on popular roots. With this, the cultural organization set out to create a high standard of literature and art, seeking full beauty and national meaning. This research seeks to understand the Armorial Movement as an invention, given that the aesthetic organization was the result of legitimized discourses and Ariano Suassuna's political, cultural and intellectual engagements. A historical analysis of his participation in the Student Theatre of Pernambuco (TEP), the Popular Theatre of the Northeast (TPN), the Popular Culture Movement (MCP), as Director of the Department of Cultural Extension at the Federal University of Pernambuco, and as a member of the Federal Council of Culture (CFC), will be essential to understanding his inclinations towards safeguarding popular culture in the Northeast and Brazil. Understanding the death of Ariano's father, João Suassuna, during the 1930 Revolution, as well as studying the clashes between Ariano Suassuna and his former Aesthetics students will also be fundamental to understanding the making of the Armorial Movement. Using sources such as interviews, newspapers, magazines, bulletins, minutes, manifestos and academic dissertations, with the support of Cultural History and concepts such as social place, practices and representations and invention, by Michel de Certeau (2012), Roger Chartier (2004) and Durval Muniz (2011), respectively, and in categories such as the writing of the self, by Michel de Foucault, the aim is to understand, based on Ariano Suassuna's political-artistic-cultural trajectory, how this movement emerged historically and what historical conditions made its fabrication possible.

Lançado em 18 de outubro de 1970, em Recife, o Movimento com expressões na arte, literatura, poesia e música, tentou realizar uma arte brasileira erudita a partir das raízes populares. Com isso, a organização cultural propôs criar um alto padrão de literatura e arte, buscando uma beleza plena e de sentido nacional. Busca-se com a pesquisa compreender o Movimento Armorial enquanto invenção, posto que a organização estética foi fruto de discursos legitimados e engajamentos políticos, culturais e intelectuais de Ariano Suassuna. Uma análise histórica de suas participações no Teatro do Estudante de Pernambuco (TEP), no Teatro Popular do Nordeste (TPN), no Movimento de Cultura Popular (MCP), como Diretor do Departamento de Extensão Cultural da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, e como membro do Conselho Federal de Cultura (CFC), serão imprescindíveis para entender como se deu as suas inclinações para salvaguardar a cultura popular nordestina e brasileira. Perceber a morte do pai de Ariano, João Suassuna, durante da Revolução de 1930, assim como estudar os embates travados entre Ariano Suassuna e seus antigos alunos de Estética também serão fundamentais para entender a fabricação Movimento Armorial. Por meio de fontes como entrevistas, jornais, revistas, boletins, atas, manifestos e dissertações de livre docência, com amparo na História Cultural e em conceitos como lugar social, práticas e representações e invenção, dos autores Michel de Certeau (2012), Roger Chartier (2004) e Durval Muniz (2011), respectivamente, e em categorias como a escrita de si, de Michel de Foucault, objetiva-se entender, a partir da trajetória político-artístico-cultural de Ariano Suassuna, como tal movimento emergiu historicamente e quais as condições históricas possibilitaram a sua fabricação.Nordeste-1application/pdfapplication/pdfporUniversidade Federal do PiauíPrograma de pós-graduação em história do Brasil (PPGHB-UFPI)BrasilUniversidade Federal do Piauí (UFPI)HistóriaMovimento ArmorialAriano SuassunaCultura PopularHistoryArmorial MovementAriano SuassunaPopular cultureHistóriaHistória do BrasilHistória ContemporâneaHistória Cultural“Heráldica da cultura popular”: Ariano Suassuna e a fabricação do movimento armorial (1950-1970)info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Comum do Brasil - Depositainstname:Instituto Brasileiro de Informação em Ciência e Tecnologia (Ibict)instacron:IBICTTEXTDISSERTAÇÃO - Willians Alves.pdf.txtWritten by FormatFilter org.dspace.app.mediafilter.TikaTextExtractionFilter on 2025-06-06T20:18:15Z (GMT).Extracted texttext/plain102845https://deposita.ibict.br/bitstreams/a4a8a139-20dc-49b4-ae7b-419840938532/downloadb8a9532dcdfa297590ccbed86e50fbd8MD54falseAnonymousREADTHUMBNAILDISSERTAÇÃO - Willians Alves.pdf.jpgWritten by FormatFilter org.dspace.app.mediafilter.PDFBoxThumbnail on 2025-06-06T20:18:15Z (GMT).Generated Thumbnailimage/jpeg2939https://deposita.ibict.br/bitstreams/149fcb46-1179-4bba-a9c9-35bcf87f89d7/download063a5843d0fbd92d24a1048ab031c4d4MD55falseAnonymousREADORIGINALDISSERTAÇÃO - Willians Alves.pdf/dspace/deposita/upload/DISSERTAÇÃO - Willians Alves.pdfDocumento principal application/pdf2197240https://deposita.ibict.br/bitstreams/4cf15b01-5b55-4928-bcf7-7e8de952a5b6/download64110a07bb5ca8300f31ee654fd70f0eMD52trueAnonymousREADLICENSElicense.txtWritten by org.dspace.content.LicenseUtilstext/plain;
