Serviços informacionais para estudantes com necessidades educacionais específicas: cenários da Biblioteca Central da Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina

Resumo: In contemporary times, the university library still plays a fundamental role in process of training people for different areas of knowledge. With this understanding, the present research aimed to analyze the informational services offered by the Central Library of the State University of Santa Catarina to address the informational demands of students with specific educational needs. In this scenario, it became necessary to present Central Library of the State University of Santa Catarina with an emphasis on information services and interfaces with Special Education in Perspective of Inclusive Education; discuss user studies and Information Science in relation to Education and the role of the University Library in serving people with specific educational needs; contextualize the profile of students with specific educational needs, expectations related to information services and the impressions of the Central Library coordination and propose and Information Competence Program for students with specific educational needs at the State University of Santa Catarina. The theoretical anchoring of the work dialogued with authors of Information Science and Education with emphasis on Inclusive and Special Education. In the methodological course, a questionnaire was used for the students and a semi-structured interview with the coordination of the library. The results pointed to specific educational needs: high skills, attention difficulties, schizophrenia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder; also demonstrated that the informational demands of most respondents, but the library does not have a specific sector for these students and does not yet have an Accessibility Policy. The presence of a Working Group on Accessibility and support from the University’s Educational Accessibility Center stands out. Based on the data collected, it is suggested the creation of an inclusive Information Competency Program for students with specific educational needs whose aim is to develop essential competences in accessing and using information in the university environment.
