A formação continuada de professores no município de São Gonçalo (RJ): percepções sobre as ações formativas locais

Ամփոփում: | This qualitative research study investigates the perceptions of school principals and pedagogical coordinators regarding the continuous teacher training offered by the Municipal Center for Continuing Education "Prefeito Hairson Monteiro dos Santos" (CREFCON-SG) in the Municipal Public Education Network of São Gonçalo, RJ, Brazil. The quality of teacher training has long been associated with the quality of education offered to students, which in turn affects their academic success. Therefore, training activities provided to teachers after their initial training and throughout their professional career are of paramount importance in the Brazilian educational scenario. This thesis is based on the literature related to continuous teacher training and professional development of teachers in the current context. The main objective of this research is to understand the perceptions of school principals and pedagogical coordinators working in schools in the 5 districts of São Gonçalo (RJ), regarding the continuous training actions made available by the institution under investigation. The research focuses on five main research questions: [a] to identify the main continuous training actions offered to education professionals linked to the Municipal Education Network of São Gonçalo (RJ), in the context of CREFCON-SG, in the last three years, [b] to understand the perceptions of the research participants regarding both the institution and the continuous training actions offered by CREFCON-SG, [c] to verify whether the needs and desires of the research participants regarding the continuous training actions offered by CREFCON-SG were being met, [d] to identify whether there was effective participation of the professionals working in the schools in the planning and construction of these respective training actions offered by the institution, and [e] to understand the main challenges faced by the research participants regarding continuous training during the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, interviews containing semi-structured questions were used as instruments for data generation. The interviews were transcribed, and the data were categorized and analyzed using Content Analysis. The results indicate that despite the training actions coordinated and offered by this education department being mostly composed of punctual and content-based actions, embodied in lectures and short courses, aligned with a traditional and individualistic perspective of continuous training, the interviewed education professionals have a positive view of the work carried out by the investigated center for continuing training and the training actions it offers. However, since they claim not to feel fully satisfied, in terms of their statutes and regulations, regarding the guarantee of their right to participate in these (and other) training actions, it is urgent for the public authorities to incorporate measures that favor the continuous training and professional development of the professionals working in the schools of the Municipal Education Network of São Gonçalo (RJ). |
