Summary: Selective collection is a process in which recyclable materials are systematically collected according to their composition, i.e. they are sorted and organized into plastics, paper, glass, metals and organics. It also constitutes environmental education, since it makes social actors aware of the problems caused by solid waste, such as excessive consumption, waste of natural resources and pollution. Through selective collection, another process called recycling takes place, where we have the transformation of an obsolete material into a totally different and functional one. Through these two processes, we can promote health education, because we cannot dissociate it from environmental education. This binary is totally justified by the fact that both areas deal with collective subjects, who are in a constant struggle for social, human and civil rights, in the search for a fairer environment, capable of offering well-being in the broadest sense of the word.
