Summary: In recent years copper prices has been increasing in relation to aluminum, so it is important to evaluate and compare the costs of manufacturing copper and aluminum equipment. One of the equipment that has the possibility of replacing its copper parts with aluminum is the transformer. This present in applications of low power electronics up to power transmission systems. Compared to copper, aluminum has more resistance, therefore, lower conductivity. Thus, a study is required for the use of aluminum in the manufacture of windings of three-phase low-power transformers. It must assess whether aluminum is capable of meeting the same working conditions as copper. The present work has the objective of carrying out a comparative study of these materials in the use of windings of three - phase transformers. In this way the design of a transformer with copper windings and another one with aluminum windings was developed, being the calculations realized in a software of mathematical calculation, it was noticed that the design with aluminum coils had performance equivalent to design with copper coils, in addition aluminum has economic advantages over copper. For a future work is aimed at the construction of the appropriate transformers.

For a future work is aimed at the construction of the appropriate transformers.Nos últimos anos o cobre vem apresentando um encarecimento em relação ao alumínio, com isso torna-se importante avaliar e comparar os custos da fabricação de equipamentos que utilizam cobre e alumínio. Um dos equipamentos que apresenta a possibilidade de substituição de suas partes de cobre por alumínio é o transformador. Este presente em aplicações de eletrônica de baixa potência até em sistemas de transmissão de energia. Comparado com o cobre, o alumínio possui mais resistência, portanto, menor condutividade. Assim, faz-se necessário um estudo para a utilização do alumínio na manufatura dos enrolamentos de transformadores trifásicos de baixa potência. Este deve avaliar se o alumínio é capaz de atender as mesmas condições de trabalho que o cobre. O presente trabalho tem por objetivo realizar um estudo comparativo desses materias no emprego de enrolamentos de transformadores trifásicos. Desta forma desenvolveu-se o projeto de um transformador com enrolamentos de cobre e outro com enrolamentos de alumínio, sendo os cálculos realizados em um software de cálculo matemático, notou-se que o projeto com bobinas de alumínio teve desempenho equivalente ao projeto com bobinas de cobre, além disso o alumínio apresenta vantagens econômicas em relação ao cobre.
