Beginning teachers and teaching work in the period of social isolation due to covid-19: searching for possibilities in impossibilities

Summary: This article presents the results of a qualitative-quantitative research carried out with 84 novice teachers working in Basic Education and Higher Education, from 15 Brazilian states. The study aimed to understand the experiences of these teachers about teaching work in the period of social isolation due to Covid-19. To obtain the data, a questionnaire made available via Google Forms on social network was used. For the codification and quantitative organization of the collected data, we used IRAMUTEQ, a free software that is developed under the logic of open source. It is a statistical environment anchored in R software and python programming language. In this study, we used the similarity analysis based on the frequency of words and on the theory of graphs, making it possible to identify the co-occurrences between the words and possible relationships between the terms. For qualitative data analysis, the Content Analysis (Bardin, 2016) was used. The research reveals that aspects related to teacher deprofessionalization were intensified in the pandemic. It also allowed us to verify that teachers, moved by political and ethical commitment, are moving towards an action that proposes to overcome what is offered or denied in terms of working conditions. The participating teachers acted with the (im) possibilities and (un) predictability that presented themselves in the school (and outside) and established a possible path.

El estudio tuvo como objetivo comprender las experiencias de profesores principiantes sobre el trabajo docente en el período de aislamiento social debido a la Covid-19. Para la obtención de los datos se utilizó un cuestionario puesto a disposición a través de Google Forms en una red social. Para la codificación y organización cuantitativa de los datos recolectados se utilizó IRAMUTEQ, un software libre desarrollado bajo la lógica de código abierto (open source). Se trata de um entorno estadístico anclado en el software R y en el lenguaje python. En este estudio, utilizamos el análisis de similitud basado en la frecuencia de palabras y la teoría de grafos, lo que permite identificar las coocurrencias entre las palabras y las posibles relaciones entre los términos. Para el análisis cualitativo de los datos se utilizó el Análisis de Contenido (Bardin, 2016). La investigación revela que aspectos relacionados con la desprofesionalización docente se intensificaron en la pandemia. También permitió verificar que los docentes, impulsados ??por el compromiso político y ético, se encaminan hacia a una acción que propone superar lo que se ofrece o se niega en cuanto a condiciones de trabajo. Los docentes participantes actuaron con las (im)posibilidades y (im)previsibilidad que se presentaban en la escuela (y fuera de ella) y establecieron un camino posible.Este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa quali-quantitativa realizada com 84 professores iniciantes atuantes na Educação Básica e no Ensino Superior, de 15 estados brasileiros. O estudo teve por objetivo compreender as vivências e experiências dos professores iniciantes sobre o trabalho docente no período de isolamento social devido à Covid-19. Para a obtenção dos dados, utilizou-se um questionário disponibilizado via Google Forms em rede social. Para a codificação e organização quantitativa dos dados coletados, utilizamos o IRAMUTEQ, software gratuito e desenvolvido sob a lógica do open source. Trata-se de um ambiente estatístico ancorado no software R e na linguagem python. Neste estudo, utilizamos a análise de similitude que se pauta na frequência de palavras e na teoria dos grafos, possibilitando identificar as coocorrências entre as palavras e possíveis relações existentes entre os termos. Para análise qualitativa dos dados, utilizou-se a Análise de Conteúdo (Bardin, 2016). A pesquisa revela que os aspectos relacionados à desprofissionalização docente foram intensificados na pandemia. Permitiu também constatar que os professores, movidos pelo compromisso político e ético, encaminham-se para uma ação que se propõe a superar o que é oferecido ou negado em termos de condições de trabalho.
