Education by experience : Coding projects as a purpose within an educational experience in mathematics

Resumo: This work aims to present and discuss John Dewey's philosophy of experience, emphasizing his conceptions about experience, educational experience, and purpose. In addition, to present and discuss how the programming projects developed by children in Scratch can be understood as a purpose in the context of his philosophy, which led us to relate the concept of purpose constructed by Dewey to the idea of a personal project developed by Papert, within constructionism. Such a relationship becomes important to expand the investigations that deal with problems related to the teaching of programming in basic education. To exemplify the possible relationships, we present a programming project developed by a K-5 school student, recognizing in it the theoretical assumptions of Dewey's theory discussed in the text, relating them to Papert’s ideas.

Além disso, apresentar e discutir como os projetos de programação desenvolvidos por crianças no Scratch podem ser entendidos como um propósito no contexto de sua filosofia, o que nos levou a relacionar o conceito de propósito construído por Dewey à ideia de projeto pessoal desenvolvida por Papert, no âmbito do construcionismo. Tal relação se torna importante para ampliar as investigações que tratam problemáticas relacionadas ao ensino de programação na educação básica. A fim de exemplificar as possíveis relações, apresentamos um projeto de programação desenvolvido por um aluno do quinto ano do ensino fundamental, reconhecendo nele os pressupostos teóricos da teoria de Dewey discutidos no texto, relacionando-os às ideias de Papert.Este trabajo tiene como objetivo presentar y discutir la filosofía de la experiencia de John Dewey enfatizando sus concepciones sobre la experiencia educativa y el propósito.  Además, presentar y discutir cómo Los proyectos de programación desarrollados por niños en Scratch presente entenderse como un propósito en El contexto de su filosofía, lo que nos llevó a relacionar el concepto de propósito construído por Dewey con la idea de proyecto personal desarrollado por Papert, dentro del construccionismo. Tal relación se torna importante para ampliar las investigaciones que aborden problemas relacionados con la enseñanza de la programación en la  educación básica.
