Summary: | This article aims to investigate the fascist element in Bernardo Kucinski’s A nova ordem [New Order] (2019) and Vladimir Sorokin’s Day of the Oprichnik (2022[2006]). Being respectively classified in the genres of dystopia and antiutopia, these novels do not seek to merely explore the autocratic tendencies sensed in their societies at the time of publication (the Bolsonaro administration and the first term of Putin’s presidency) and warn the reader, but also to reflect on the remnants of authoritarianism imbued in Brazil and Russia’s national cultures. To achieve that effect, these narratives employ an anachronistic mix of high technological development and the resurrection of institutions created in periods of intense political repression, such as DOI-CODI in the Brazilian novel and Ivan the Terrible’s murderous political police, the oprichnina, in the Russian novel. Considering the concepts of “eternal fascism” by Umberto Eco and “working through the past” by Theodor Adorno, we understand that the unending cycles of oppression and violence lived by both countries can be attributed to an ineffective elimination of the social conditions that allow the renovation and restauration of totalitarian structures, of which they are products. As we see it, the meditations proposed by these works of literature are essential in the task of overcoming those ever-returning ghosts. |

Enmarcadas respectivamente en los géneros distopía y antiutopía, estas novelas no solo buscan explorar las tendencias autocráticas percibidas en sus sociedades en el momento de la publicación de los libros, es decir, el gobierno de Bolsonaro y el primer mandato del gobierno de Putin, respectivamente, y alertar al lector sobre ello, sino también reflexionar sobre los restos de autoritarismo imbricados en las culturas nacionales de Brasil y Rusia. Así, estas narrativas llevan a cabo la mezcla anacrónica de un alto grado de desarrollo tecnológico con la resurrección de instituciones nacidas en períodos de intensa represión política, como el DOI-CODI, en la novela brasileña, y la sanguinaria policía política de Iván el Terrible (oprichnina), en ruso. Partiendo de los conceptos de "fascismo eterno", de Umberto Eco, y de la elaboración del pasado, de Theodor Adorno, se entiende que los constantes ciclos de opresión y violencia que viven ambos países se deben a una ineficacia en la eliminación de los supuestos sociales que los originaron, permitiendo la renovación y restauración de las estructuras totalitarias. En nuestra opinión, las meditaciones propuestas por tales obras son esenciales para que pensemos en formas de superar estos fantasmas que continúan regresando.Este artigo tem por objetivo a investigação do elemento fascista nas obras A Nova Ordem, de Bernardo Kucinski (2019), e O dia de um oprítchnik, de Vladimir Sorokin (2022[2006]). Respectivamente enquadrados nos gêneros distopia e antiutopia, tais romances não buscam meramente explorar as tendências autocráticas percebidas em suas sociedades nos momentos de publicação dos livros, quais sejam, o governo Bolsonaro e o primeiro mandato do governo Putin, respectivamente, e alertar o leitor a seu respeito, mas também refletir sobre resquícios de autoritarismo imbricados nas culturas nacionais do Brasil e da Rússia. Assim, essas narrativas realizam a anacrônica mescla de um elevado grau de desenvolvimento tecnológico com a ressurreição de instituições nascidas em períodos de intensa repressão política, como o DOI-CODI, no romance brasileiro, e a sanguinária polícia política de Ivan, o Terrível (oprítchnina), no russo. Partindo dos conceitos de “fascismo eterno”, de Umberto Eco, e de elaboração do passado, de Theodor Adorno, entende-se que os constantes ciclos de opressão e violência vividos por ambos os países se devem a uma ineficácia na eliminação dos pressupostos sociais que os originaram, permitindo a renovação e restauração de estruturas totalitárias.
