The Discursive Topic at the Service of Reading Comprehension in Comics

Summary: | This work, whose theoretical basis is guided by the postulates of Textual Linguistics in its interfaces, with emphasis on studies by Cavalcante and Brito (2022), with perspectives linked to the analysis of texts in use, presents a reflection on the relevance of the discursive topic for the process of reading comprehension. Considered as fundamental criteria for the hierarchization of topics, the properties of centration and organicity, which, according to Jubran et al. (1992) and Sá (2018), prove to be fundamental for the construction of topical tables, which reveal the global organization of the first chapter of the work The Diary of Anne Frank, adapted to the comic book genre. Convinced of this vision, we assume that this framework is fundamental for the establishment of linguistic interfaces that favor the attribution of meanings in the school environment. In order for this objective to be achieved, we initially present the concept of reading comprehension, supported by theorists who deal with this phenomenon, such as Marcuschi (2008) and Oliveira-Nascimento (2014), also highlighting the multimodal character, taking into account the nature of the chosen genre – HQ. We continue the study, detailing the relationship of the discursive topic and its properties with the process of global understanding of the meanings of the opening chapter of the aforementioned comic. |

(2022), con perspectivas vinculadas al análisis de textos en uso, presenta una reflexión sobre la relevancia del tópico discursivo para el proceso de comprensión lectora. Consideradas como criterios fundamentales para la jerarquización de los tópicos, las propiedades de centralidad y organicidad, que, según Jubran et al. (1992) y AUTORIDAD, son fundamentales para la construcción de marcos tópicos, revelan la organización global del primer capítulo de El diario de Ana Frank, adaptado al género del cómic. Convencidos de esta opinión, asumimos que este marco es fundamental para establecer interfaces lingüísticas que favorezcan la atribución de significados en el ámbito escolar. Para alcanzar este objetivo, presentamos inicialmente la conceptualización de la comprensión lectora, basándonos en teóricos que abordan este fenómeno, como Marcuschi (2008) y AUTHORIA, destacando también su carácter multimodal, dada la naturaleza del género escogido, el cómic. Continuamos el estudio detallando la relación del tópico discursivo y sus propiedades con el proceso de comprensión global de los significados del capítulo inicial del cómic mencionado.Este trabalho, cuja base teórica se pauta pelos postulados da Linguística Textual em suas interfaces, com destaque para estudos de Cavalcante et al. (2022), com perspectivas ligadas à análise dos textos em uso, apresenta uma reflexão sobre a relevância do tópico discursivo para o processo de compreensão leitora. Ponderados como critérios fundamentais para a hierarquização de tópicos, as propriedades centração e organicidade, que, conforme Jubran et al. (1992) e AUTORIA, mostram-se fundamentais para a construção de quadros tópicos, que revelam a organização global do primeiro capítulo da obra O diário de Anne Frank, adaptado para o gênero história em quadrinhos. Convencidos dessa visão, assumimos que esse arcabouço é fundamental para o estabelecimento de interfaces linguísticas que favoreçam a atribuição de sentidos no ambiente escolar. Para que este objetivo seja alcançado, apresentamos, inicialmente, a conceituação de compreensão leitora, amparados em teóricos que se ocupam desse fenômeno, como Marcuschi (2008) e AUTORIA, evidenciando também o caráter multimodal, tendo em vista a natureza do gênero escolhido – HQ.
