INTERCULTURAL SKILLS IN HIGHER EDUCATION: A SYSTEMATIC MAPPING

Summary: With the polysemy and conceptual abstraction of intercultural competencies, more and more studies are developing in the area in search of empirical directions. This research had the general objective of analyzing how intercultural competencies (IC) are developed in higher education based on a systematic mapping (MS) of the literature. Through a MS research protocol, we also sought to verify the main intercultural competencies in this context. The results point to an increase in the number of scientific publications on the construct after 2015, also allowing us to map the most adopted models. Intercultural competence is developed through several joint actions within the scope of higher education, such as teacher training, curriculum restructuring, institutionalized projects and actions, and the internationalization process stands out as one of the main means for this. Intercultural competencies are mostly based on the models or instruments adopted in each research. As a result, there was also a lack of studies that target teachers, as well as a low number of studies in Latin America.

Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo general analizar cómo se desarrollan las competencias interculturales (CI) en la educación superior a partir de un mapeo sistemático (MS) de la literatura. A través de un protocolo de investigación de EM, también buscamos verificar las principales competencias interculturales en este contexto. Los resultados apuntan a un aumento del número de publicaciones científicas sobre el constructo después de 2015, lo que también permite mapear los modelos más adoptados. La competencia intercultural se desarrolla a través de diversas acciones conjuntas en el ámbito de la educación superior, como la formación docente, la reestructuración curricular, proyectos y acciones institucionalizadas, y el proceso de internacionalización se destaca como uno de los principales medios para ello. Las competencias interculturales se basan en su mayoría en los modelos o instrumentos adoptados en cada investigación. Como resultado, también hubo una falta de estudios dirigidos a los docentes, así como un bajo número de estudios en América Latina.Com a polissemia e abstração conceitual de competências interculturais, cada vez mais estudos se desenvolvem na área em busca de direcionamentos empíricos. Essa pesquisa teve como objetivo geral analisar como se desenvolvem as competências interculturais (CI) na educação superior a partir de um mapeamento sistemático (MS) da literatura. Por meio de um protocolo de pesquisa de MS, buscou-se também verificar quais as principais competências interculturais nesse contexto. Os resultados apontam para um crescimento do número de publicações científicas sobre o construto após o ano de 2015, permitindo também mapear os modelos mais adotados. Competência intercultural se desenvolve por meio de várias ações conjuntas no âmbito da ES, como capacitação de docentes, reestruturação do currículo, projetos e ações institucionalizados e o processo de internacionalização se destaca como um dos principais meios para tal. As competências interculturais se baseiam, em sua maioria, nos modelos ou instrumentos adotados em cada pesquisa.
