A Telemedicina tem evoluído ao longo dos anos com o aparecimento de novas tecnologias de informação e comunicação, promovendo igualdade de cuidados de saúde, eliminando fatores como a distância e falta de profissionais de saúde especializados. Em Portugal a Telemedicina teve maior impacto nos anos noventa, com fortes investimentos em novos projetos. Esta atividade médica é exercida à distância, incluindo o diagnóstico, o tratamento e educação/formação médica. Na Marinha a Telemedicina não é praticada, tendo sido apenas realizados dois projetos-piloto. O primeiro em 1997 no extinto hospital da Marinha, envolvendo o Centro de Medicina Naval e Base de Fuzileiros, o segundo foi no NRP Álvares Cabral em 2015 envolvendo o Centro de Medicina Naval, que decorreram com pouco sucesso. Neste estudo procuramos analisar a importância do uso da Telemedicina Aplicada na Avaliação do Pessoal da Marinha em contexto operacional e assistencial. A pesquisa bibliográfica e as entrevistas realizadas aos diretores na área de saúde militar, foram fundamentais para ajudar a responder à questão central. O nosso estudo termina com algumas recomendações, para que a prática da Telemedicina na Marinha seja uma mais-valia para os utentes e profissionais de saúde que exercem a sua atividade em ambientes isolados e distantes. Abstract: Telemedicine has evolved over the years with the emergence of new information and communication technologies, promoting equal healthcare, eliminating factors such as distance and lack of specialized healthcare personnel. In Portugal, Telemedicine had the greatest impact in the 90s, with strong investments in new projects. This medical activity is carried out remotely, including diagnosis, treatment and medical education/training. In the Navy, Telemedicine is not practiced, with only two pilot projects having been carried out. The first in 1997 at the extinct Navy Hospital, involving the Naval Medical Center and the Marine Base, the second was at NRP Álvares Cabral in 2015 involving the Naval Medical Center, both were met with little success. In this study we sought to analyze the importance of the use of Applied Telemedicine in the Evaluation of Navy Personnel in an operational and assistance context. The literature review and the interviews conducted with the directors in the context of military health were instrumental to help answer the central question. Our study ends with some recommendations, so that the practice of Telemedicine in the Navy becomes an added value for users and healthcare personnel who work in isolated and distant environments.
