Desta maneira poderemos compreender o porquê de, mesmo não sendo um arquitecto mediático, hoje ser considerado um dos grandes mestres espanhóis e uma referência mundial para os arquitectos e para a Arquitectura Contemporânea. Exploraremos, portanto, numa fase inicial a sua vida e no contexto sócio-económico em que viveu e posteriormente, a sua obra e suas características marcantes que fizeram com que influenciasse as gerações seguintes de arquitectos. Além disto, para melhor compreendermos a arquitectura “sotiana”, analisaremos a sua obra mais conhecida, o Gimnasio Maravillas.The following article has as its purpose the exploration and comprehension of the life of Alejandro de la Sota and its work as a parallel architect, outside of the “star system” of that time. This way we will be able to understand the reason why, even though not being na architect loved by the media, he is considered to be one of the great spanish architects and a worldwide reference for architects and the Contemporary Architecture. Firstly, we will explore its work and its bold and unique characteristics that made it possible for him to influence all the following generations of architects.
