Summary: Talent identification in sports can be an advantage for clubs and national teams both financially and in terms of results. With the identification of candidate genes that could give athletes an advantage, their selection may become easier and premature. Among these there is the ACE gene, which depending on the polymorphism, seems to be advantageous to cyclists or swimmers, but has a less clarified association with endurance races. The selection of athletes by their genome may have ethical consequences that need to be clarified.
