Summary: | Hope is a multidimensional and multifaceted construct intertwined in the process of caring for people with cancer. It is a dynamic, adaptive emotional state essential for transcendence. This study aims to reflect on the hope of individuals with advanced cancer in palliative care. Hope is determined by various intrinsic, functional, socio-affective, psycho-emotional, and therapeutic factors; among others, it is anchored and enhanced by spirituality, propelling the transcendence of adversity imposed by progressive illness and the search for meaning in life. There is a positive relationship between hope and health-related quality of life, as it is part of a dynamic "mechanism" closely associated with biopsychosocial-spiritual well-being. It is important to reflect on the impact of hope on the care of individuals with advanced cancer for holistic planning grounded in the assessment and promotion of hope to assist in achieving balance. |

Es un estado emocional dinámico, adaptativo y esencial para la trascendencia. El objetivo de este estudio es reflexionar sobre la esperanza de las personas con cáncer avanzado en Cuidados Paliativos. La esperanza está determinada por diversos factores intrínsecos, funcionales, socioafectivos, psicoemocionales, terapéuticos, entre otros. Está anclada y potenciada por la espiritualidad, impulsando la trascendencia de la adversidad impuesta por la enfermedad progresiva y la búsqueda de sentido en la vida. Existe una relación positiva entre la esperanza y la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud, ya que es parte de un "mecanismo" dinámico estrechamente asociado al bienestar biopsicosocial-espiritual. Es importante reflexionar sobre el impacto de la esperanza en el cuidado de las personas con cáncer avanzado para una planificación holística fundamentada en la evaluación y promoción de la esperanza para ayudar a alcanzar el equilibrio.A esperança é um constructo multidimensional e multifacetado imbricado no processo de cuidar das pessoas com câncer, trata-se de estado emocional dinâmico, adaptativo e essencial para transcendência. O objetivo deste estudo é refletir sobre a esperança da pessoa com câncer avançado em cuidados paliativos. A esperança é multideterminada por diferentes fatores intrínsecos, funcionais, socioafetivos, psicoemocionais, terapêuticos; entre outros, ela é ancorada e potencializada pela espiritualidade, que propulsiona a transposição da adversidade imposta pela doença progressiva e busca de sentido da vida. Existe relação positiva entre a esperança e a qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde, além de ser parte de uma “engrenagem” dinâmica, intimamente associada ao bem-estar biopsicossocioespiritual.
