TEACHERS' AND STUDENTS' VIEWS IN THE FIELD OF SCIENCE EDUCATION ABOUT PLAGIARISM

Summary: | This study aims to identify the notions of teachers and students in the area of Science Education regarding the topic of academic plagiarism and its interfaces. Data collection took place through an open questionnaire, with the participation of 15 researchers. Data processing was carried out based on the definition of three semantic categories: a) Academic plagiarism; b) Scientific methodology in research; and c) Disciplinary measures for plagiarism. The responses showed that the majority claim to have made improper copies in basic education. A certain group agrees with having made inappropriate duplications of texts during graduation, despite the majority having received guidance with information about plagiarism and its different formats. In their entirety, they define the concept of plagiarism, a significant number use anti-plagiarism tools, in addition to claiming to have received information on disciplinary measures to prevent plagiarism and guidance on possible sanctions in the postgraduate program to which they belong. It is important to highlight how much disclosure and guidance must be recommended and prioritized in the academic context, through different combat fronts, so that plagiarism is contained, before its possible occurrences. |

La recolección de datos se realizó mediante un cuestionario abierto, con la participación de 15 investigadores. El tratamiento de los datos se llevó a cabo a partir de la definición de tres categorías semánticas: a) Plagio académico; b) Metodología científica en la investigación; y c) Medidas disciplinarias frente al plagio. Las respuestas indicaron que la mayoría afirma haber realizado copias indebidas en la Educación Básica. Un determinado grupo admite haber realizado duplicidades inapropiadas de textos durante la graduación, a pesar de que la mayoría recibió orientaciones sobre el plagio y sus diferentes formatos. En su totalidad, los participantes definen el concepto de plagio; un número significativo utiliza herramientas antiplagio, además de afirmar que recibieron información sobre medidas disciplinarias para prevenir el plagio y orientaciones sobre posibles sanciones en el Programa de Posgrado al cual pertenecen. Es importante destacar la necesidad de priorizar y promover la divulgación y orientación en el contexto académico a través de diferentes frentes de combate, para contener el plagio antes de que ocurran posibles casos.Este estudo visa realizar a identificação, quanto as noções de docentes e discentes da área de Educação em Ciências acerca da temática do plágio acadêmico e suas interfaces. A coleta de dados ocorreu por meio de questionário aberto, obtendo a participação de 15 pesquisadores. O tratamento dos dados foi realizado a partir da definição de três categorias semânticas: a) Plágio acadêmico; b) Metodologia científica na pesquisa; e c) Medidas disciplinares ao plágio. As respostas denotaram que a maioria afirma ter realizado cópias indevidas na Educação Básica. Um determinado grupo concorda em ter feito duplicidades impróprias de textos durante a graduação, apesar da maioria ter recebido orientações com informações sobre o plágio e seus diferentes formatos. Em sua totalidade definem o conceito de plágio, um número significativo utiliza ferramentas antiplágio, além de afirmarem terem recebido subsídios sobre medidas disciplinares de coibição ao plágio e orientações sobre possíveis sanções no Programa de Pós-Graduação ao qual pertencem.
