Practical Classes as a Strategy for Teaching Agricultural Mechanization in the Undergraduate Agronomy Course

Summary: Practical classes constitute a methodology that allows the application of knowledge acquired in theoretical lessons, enabling the concretization of the discussed topic. The objective of this study was to evaluate a practical class methodology, applied in the course of Machines, Engines, and Agricultural Mechanization at IFPA, Castanhal Campus, regarding the students' performance in evaluations. To develop this, a survey was conducted with the students from the undergraduate Agronomy course at IFPA during the aforementioned discipline. This observational and comparative study analyzed the grades obtained in the discipline of Machine Elements, considering both the practical and theoretical approaches. Based on the results, it was found that the classes obtained higher grades when the topic was addressed and evaluated practically. The practical class connects theoretical knowledge to reality through hands-on experiences.

El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar una metodología de clase práctica, aplicada en la asignatura de Máquinas, Motores y Mecanización Agrícola en el IFPA, Campus Castanhal, en relación con el desempeño de los estudiantes en las evaluaciones. Para el desarrollo de este estudio, se realizó una recopilación de información de los grupos del curso superior de Agronomía del IFPA, durante la asignatura mencionada anteriormente. Este estudio observacional y comparativo analizó las calificaciones obtenidas en la asignatura de Elementos de Máquinas, considerando tanto el enfoque práctico como el teórico. A partir de los resultados obtenidos, se constató que los grupos obtuvieron calificaciones más altas cuando el tema se abordó y evaluó de manera práctica. La clase práctica conecta el conocimiento teórico con la realidad a través de experiencias prácticas.As aulas práticas constituem uma metodologia que permite aplicar os conhecimentos adquiridos nas aulas teóricas, permitindo a concretização do tema abordado. Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar uma metodologia de aula prática, aplicada na disciplina de Máquinas, Motores e Mecanização Agrícola no IFPA, Campus Castanhal, referente ao desempenho dos discentes nas avaliações. Para desenvolvimento deste, foi realizado um levantamento de informações das turmas do curso superior de Agronomia do IFPA, durante a disciplina citada acima. Este estudo observacional e comparativo analisou as notas obtidas na disciplina de Elementos de Máquinas, considerando tanto a abordagem prática quanto a teórica. Diante dos resultados obtidos, constatou-se que as turmas obtiveram notas mais altas quando o tema foi abordado e avaliado de forma prática.
