要約: This work aims to interpret Rondônia by Roquette-Pinto through the lens of social representations, in order to prompt reflections on Regional History, specifically that of Rondônia. It is directed toward those interested in the time period and geographical scope covered by the book Rondônia, which includes the construction of the telegraph line linking the state of Mato Grosso to Santo Antônio do Madeira, between 1905 and 1914. Key points discussed range from the author's biography and his tenure in various positions to the recognition he received from the Brazilian Academy of Letters, thereby immortalizing him in the national scene. In the following chapter, we will explore the beginning of the construction of the telegraph lines, their main objectives, and the difficulties described in Rondônia, as well as those found in other bibliographic references. Another point addressed here relates to the Indigenous issue and the completion of the telegraph lines from Mato Grosso to Amazonas. The reception of Rondônia in newspapers of the time and its importance will be highlighted in this research. In the final chapter, the study examines how Roquette-Pinto represented the peoples who inhabited the Serra do Norte region in his work. As a basis for this research, we utilized social representations to analyze the text. This work is of great value, as it highlights the need for a critical analysis of social aspects. Given this context, the question that guided our inquiry was: How were the peoples of Rondônia represented by Roquette-Pinto? Using a qualitative methodology with a descriptive objective, a bibliographic review was conducted to contextualize the biography through an analysis of Roquette-Pinto's narrative.
