Zusammenfassung: Rheumatoid arthritis is a rheumatic, inflammatory, systemic, chronic disease of unknown etiology that affects synovial tissues, leading to deformities and movement limitations, impairing daily and work activities. Physiotherapy plays a crucial role in the management of rheumatoid arthritis, providing pain relief, improving muscle and joint function and bringing benefits to patients' quality of life, being essential to combat the discomfort caused by the pathology. The objective of this study is to verify the effects of a physiotherapeutic intervention program on the handgrip strength of individuals diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. This is a longitudinal and interventional study, which was carried out at the Physiotherapy course teaching clinic at the University of Passo Fundo (UPF). The initial sample consisted of 12 individuals (2 of which dropped out during the study), totaling 10 individuals. The first moment was the initial assessment, which consisted of the application of sociodemographic and health questionnaires, medication records, vital sign assessments, anthropometric measurements, Visual Analogue Pain Scale (VAS), Kratos® Manual Dynamometer for muscle strength, Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) and McGill Pain Questionnaire (MPQ). The intervention program consisted of 15 physiotherapy sessions, held twice a week, lasting 50 to 60 minutes each. The intervention involved mobility, flexibility, muscle strength, balance and gait exercises, encompassing functional movements of the entire body. The series of kinesiotherapy exercises were gradually increased in number and repetitions over the 15 sessions, according to the participants' tolerance. The results demonstrated that the majority of the sample was female, white, with an average age of 58.5 years. The intervention demonstrated statistically significant results in pain, which was not observed when analyzing handgrip strength parameters. It is concluded that the physiotherapeutic intervention program demonstrated to be effective in reducing pain in individuals with rheumatoid arthritis.
