Sumari: | The degree in Veterinary Medicine comprises around five years of studies, covers practical and theoretical activities, which aim to prepare the student for the job market in a competent and safe way. Among the prerequisites for obtaining the Veterinary Doctor degree is the Professional Technical Internship (ETP), which is carried out at the end of graduation, with the aim of developing greater growth and evolution for the student, before complete training. The ETP is a valuable opportunity for students, who can experience new experiences, improve their learning and put into practice all the knowledge obtained throughout the course. All of this happens under the supervision of an already trained professional, and under the guidance of a professor from the teaching staff of the training institution. The ETP was carried out in the area of ruminant clinic and surgery, under the academic guidance of Professor Dr. Leonardo José Gil Barcellos, and practical supervision by veterinarian Jerbeson Hoffmann da Silva. The ETP was carried out at the company INCOVET – Inovação e Consultoria em Veterinária, headquartered in the municipality of Rondinha, Rio Grande do Sul. It took place from 07/24/2023 to 10/03/2023, comprising a total of 420 hours. Through ETP, it was possible to assist in patients' clinical routine, from assessment to diagnosis and choice of the best therapeutic plan for each situation. Furthermore, it was possible to monitor surgical cases and, depending on the property, also the post-operative period of the patients. Furthermore, it was possible to assist in the collection, inoculation and interpretation of milk samples for the diagnosis and control of mastitis, in tests for brucellosis and tuberculosis, in addition to other activities. This report describes the internship location, the activities carried out and the cases monitored in the dairy cattle medical and surgical clinic during this period. Finally, a case of uterine torsion in a Holstein cow will be reported. In this way, it is concluded that the importance of the supervised Professional Technical Internship is notable, since, through it, it is possible to learn about different realities, obtain a broader view within the dairy chain and, also, add new knowledge and new experiences to better development and professional growth. |
