סיכום: Epilepsy is a common chronic neurological condition affecting approximately 1–3% of the global population. This thesis aims to analyze managers’ perceptions and the various support practices implemented for employees with epilepsy. The central research question is how companies accommodate employees with epilepsy, considering the necessary adaptations and strategies to ensure both safety and full participation in the workplace, particularly during epileptic seizures. This descriptive study adopts a qualitative research approach with a convenience sample, using semi-structured interviews as the main data collection instrument. To contextualize the object of study, the research is based on a sample of small, medium, and large companies from different economic sectors employing individuals with epilepsy in southern Brazil, specifically in the states of Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul. The first part of the thesis addressed professional inclusion strategies and employment opportunities for this group of workers. To achieve this, an integrative literature review was conducted to investigate the inclusion of people with epilepsy in the labor market. The interplay of factors influencing occupational inclusion forms an interdependent cycle involving three central themes related to epilepsy and the social environment, each requiring specific management. Successful inclusion in the workforce depends on a combination of effective seizure control, assertive impression management strategies, and appropriate workplace adaptations. It is essential that efforts be continuous and integrated, involving multiple stakeholders, so that individuals with epilepsy can lead full and productive lives with fair access to professional opportunities. The second scientific production revisited conceptual elements, aiming to analyze managers’ perceptions regarding the inclusion and support of employees with epilepsy. It explored how these professionals are integrated into the workplace, the adaptations made to meet their needs, and the attitudes of coworkers and supervisors toward them. The findings indicate diverse practices in hiring and supporting workers with epilepsy across different organizational and institutional settings. The analysis reveals a wide range of approaches, as well as significant uncertainty regarding the appropriate actions to be taken during epileptic seizures in the workplace. Managers expressed not only a need for technical knowledge but also for a clear protocol outlining how to respond in such situations. The third part of the study aimed to present the development and validation of a support protocol for managing epileptic seizures in the workplace. The study is justified by the challenges reported by company managers in knowing how to act during and after epileptic episodes. As a practical outcome, this research developed a workplace seizure support protocol that stands out as a concrete response to the demand for clearer and more effective guidelines highlighted by the participants.
