All medical records of patients diagnosed with the main oral cancerous lesions (erythroplakia, nicotinic stomatitis, leukoplakia, erosive lichen planus and actinic cheilitis) from 2014 to 2018 were analyzed. relating to injuries. After data collection, a descriptive statistical analysis was performed. Of a total of 9,049 medical records analyzed, 55 cancerous lesions were found, which were more prevalent in males (n=35; 4 64%), who were in their fifth decade of life (n=19; 35%), leucodermas (n=23; 41.82%) and inhabited the northwest mesoregion Rio-Grandense (n=54; 98%). As for the lesions surveyed, the diagnosis of leukoplakia was observed to be the most frequent (n=18; 33%). The most common etiology for the lesions was excessive sun exposure (n=17; 31%) and the most common form of treatment was the use of sunscreen, lip moisturizer and wide-brimmed hat. As for harmful habits, 26 individuals (45%) use tobacco or have smoked at some point in their lives and 11 (20%) are dependent on alcoholic beverages. Taking into account the methodology adopted and the sample studied, the number of patients with cancerous lesions of the oral mucosa is relevant, and it is extremely important for the dentist to identify and prevent such diseases. |
