Summary: | The dissertation approaches the educational dimension of the collective work of students partaker of PCE - Co-operative Program in Schools–during the year of 1999, in the Northwest Bordering region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. Its basic hypothesis is that with the development of cooperative practices, the students build the cooperative conscience. The text begins with the construction of the theoretical reference, having the work as explanatory category for education and the co-operative system, and in praxis the generating process of awareness and construction of sociability. Therefore, the history of the collective work in the region in study and its repercussions are presented as necessary elements to the understanding of the co-operative system and the appearance of PCE in 1993. The historical registration of the trajectory of PCE as educational experience demonstrates the ways cruised by this initiative that involved more than 12 thousand students up to 1999, in 11 municipal districts of the area. The delimitation of this study allows the problematization of just an element of PCE, considered the most important in the last period: students cooperative practices in schools. Starting from a field research with students and participant teachers of the cooperative practices in 1999, it was possible to demonstrate that the cooperative work is an educational experience and that the values built in the form of students' organization influence in the change of their behavior and, therefore, in the conscience of the ones that participate in these practices. |
