Sumari: It addresses the FAIR principles, showing its importance in university libraries through a bibliographic survey and the application of a checklist. It presents the concept of FAIR Principles, the characteristics of each principle by some authors, highlighting the great value of this set of recommendations in the current context, in the Big Data era. Explains the history and evolution of the GO FAIR network and FAIR principles. Points out the importance of data, information, and knowledge. It highlights the need to apply the FAIR principles in institutional repositories and how to assess adequacy based on a checklist. It highlights the relationships between the FAIR principles and the Librarianship principles. It emphasizes the role of the librarian in data curation, in the application of FAIR principles and in the management of institutional repository and research data. Identifies and characterizes the repositories that meet and do not meet the FAIR principles recommendations. It concludes by emphasizing that the librarian has the necessary knowledge to manage research data, curate data and manage institutional repositories and the benefits of adopting FAIR principles for universities and for the Open Science movement, and the possible future research on further applications of FAIR principles.
