Тойм: | In this project we built-up a 3D printer aiming the fabrication of microfluidic devices. It is based on a new technology named Fused Deposition Modelling, cheaper and simpler than conventional photolithographic methodologies to manufacture microchannels, adding flexibility in the development and integration of sensors and devices. Sealing is crucial in microfluidic devices and it was a time consuming step faced in the development of this work. However, with a 3D printer we could enable faster changes in design and in microchannel fabrication than conventional processes, with a complete sealing case study presented, permitting future developments of ‘lab-on-a-chip’ devices. It is worth mentioning that microchannels with distinct geometries allow adaption to several applications, especially those in interdisciplinary areas such as foodstuff, beverages and environmental monitoring, for example. We could optimize printing parameters for ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) and PLA (Polylactic acid) - two kinds of plastic - microchannels, testing the sealing of the microchannels produced. |
